FC Barcelona Legend Guardiola ‘Would Love To Coach Lamine’

FC Barcelona legend Pep Guardiola said that he’d love to coach Lamine Yamal one day, though he admitted that it “won’t happen” from a presentation at the Monarka Clinic on Wednesday night.

This week has already seen Guardiola confirm City’s previous reported interest in the youngster, who the CIES Observatory is now worth north of $456 million (€400 million).

Speaking about the youngster again, Guardiola reiterated that Lamine “is at the best club to be the best”.

“I’m sure he’s well surrounded by his people. I would tell him to make his career and we’ll see. Hopefully it will be long and full of successes like Leo’s [Messi]

. He will have to prove it every three days for fifteen years. I enjoyed Leo. I’d love to coach Lamine, but it won’t happen,” the Catalan added.

Guardiola has praise for Luis Enrique’s recently crowned Champions League winners, who he found to have been the most impressive outfit on the continent alongside Hansi Flick’s Barca this term.

“Together with Barça, they have been the two best teams. They deserved the Champions League. When we lost to them in the group stage 4-2 I saw that they were a very strong team. I’m very happy for Luis because he deserves everything,” Pep explained, while complimenting his former Blaugrana teammate of the 1990s.

PSG winning the UCL seems to have complicated who will take home the sport’s highest individual honor, the Ballon d’Or, between a previously ‘mistreated’ ex-Barca star Ousmane Dembele and his right wing replacement in Catalonia, Lamine.

“Whoever wins will have deserved it. I’m not lazy to talk about it, it’s just that what I say matters little, whether it’s won by a player from Barça, PSG, Madrid or City, well no one will win City because we didn’t deserve it, it will be deserved. They are both very good.

“Dembele was already doing some things well and Luis has found his position. Lamine is a phenomenon at 17 years old. It’s fortunate that these types of players come out for the show,” Guardiola stated.

Lamine could be FC Barcelona’s next Ballon d’Or winner

Whether he gets the gong this year or not, Lamine looks likely to be FC Barcelona’s first Ballon d’Or winner since Lionel Messi in the near future. This term, however, he’s faced strong competition from teammates Raphinha and Pedri.
