The Lamborghini Pregunta concept might not ring a bell, but it’s going up for auction and is expected to sell for more than a Revuelto. A lot more actually as the auction estimate is between $2.96 (€2.5) and $4.1 (€3.5) million.

That’s a hefty chunk of change, but the Pregunta is being billed as the “last Lamborghini concept car to be built on a pure Lamborghini platform.” This sounds like hogwash, but Broad Arrow Auctions says the car was originally commissioned when Lamborghini was owned by Chrysler and was their final concept before Audi took control. In fact, the car debuted at the 1998 Paris Motor Show, shortly after the brand was bought by the Volkswagen Group.
French Fighter Jet Inspiration
Based on the Diablo, the Pregunta was built in collaboration with coachbuilder Carrosserie Heuliez. Given the French connection, the concept was inspired by the Dassault Rafale fighter and features a canopy-like greenhouse with scissor doors as well as two removable polycarbonate roof panels. The model also sports carbon fiber bodywork, digital side mirrors, and matte grey paint that echoes the delta wing jet.
The interior has two Azure Blue seats that are wrapped in Alcantara upholstery and separated by a C-shaped accent. They’re joined by a digital instrument cluster, an Alpine audio system, and fiber-optic lighting. Rounding out the highlights are four-point harnesses and rearview camera displays.
Broad Arrow Auctions
Motivation is provided by a 5.7-liter V12 engine developing 530 hp (395 kW / 537 PS) and 446 lb-ft (605 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a five-speed manual transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 209 mph (337 km/h).
From Show Stand To Auction Block
Following its debut in 1998, the car remained in the hands of Heuliez for a decade before being bought by a private collector. They’ve owned it ever since and the car was serviced by Lamborghini’s heritage division in 2021, before being put on display at the Museo Lamborghini.
