LIVING COLOUR Perform “Cult Of Personality” On Jimmy Kimmel Live

Jimmy Kimmel and his team are back with a vengeance as they booked American funky rock band Living Colour for a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live this past Thursday (2nd October). The band are known for their hit song, “Cult of Personality,” which was, obviously, the song of the night.

Particularly pointed, the single is about the godliness that can be attached to political leaders, dictators, and celebrities and their projected image, rather than who they are as people. And while Living Colour has always leaned on the political side throughout their career, this song is exceptionally poignant and necessary after Kimmel was pulled from air by ABC for ‘insensitive’ comments made about Charlie Kirk‘s death, and was shunned by political leaders across the US for it.

And now that Kimmel has returned, a performance and song choice from Living Colour feels like a testament to the people in power who tried to have the plug pulled on Kimmel’s late-night show. However, when Kimmel began airing again, he made a heartfelt apology to the people who watch him and talked in a way that caused more unity than division.

But towards politicians however? Seems like Kimmel is letting the music speak for him, and Living Colour‘s “Cult of Personality” says plenty.
