Genuinely, it feels like every other week, we’re reporting on the loss of a life that was impactful in our scene. Whether it be a former drummer or bassist, a founding member, or an active member, no band has been safe from loss this year. Both a mix of younger and older lives lost, it’s been a difficult year for a lot of music fans. Ozzy Osbourne, as much as it was expected, was still devastating. Dave Shapiro and Daniel Williams lost their lives in a tragic plane accident. Matt Keil battled with ALS shortly. Other musicians had cancer.
2025 has been heavy in general, but honestly, losing pillars in our community is another blow that we’re not always sure we can take.
